2009 Medical Mission Trip Print E-mail

2009 Medical Mission TripJoin the API team for an experience of a lifetime. One that will change you and the Kenyan people you will be treating. You will be part of two American teams working side-by-side with experienced Kenyan doctors.

Each team will consist of: a Kenya physician (clinical officer);
2 staff taking histories & vitals; 2 nursing staff dispensing medication, treating wounds & providing other first aid treatment; 2 staff counting pills, preparing liquid medication & injectables for nurses and 3 Kenyan translators (10 person team). We also need an experienced photographer & videographer to join us.

American physicians who are not familiar with tropical medicine will work with the local clinical officer until they feel comfortable treating patients on their own.

We expect each team will see an average of 200 patients, 30% adults and 70% children. One of our most difficult tasks is stopping seeing patients at the end of each day. We do a daily debriefing before dinner and then collapse after a day of doing the Lord's work.

You will also worship at local Masai churches each Sunday we are there. We will also spend two days in one of the most magnificent game parks in the world - Masai Mara.

This is not a trip for the fainthearted. Some of the accommodations may be primitive and the conditions can be rugged, but safe. However, the blessing you receive from a trip like this is worth the sacrifice.

The cost for each volunteer is $3,000 and includes airfare, food, lodging, ground transportation and the purchase of medicine and supplies we will be dispensing. Contact API for more information or to reserve your place on the Team today.
