 Most Kenyans lack safe, clean drinking water. In a country with abundant water supplies, water-borne disease still accounts for thousands of deaths every year and untold numbers of sick and unproductive labor lost. Families can easily spend 10% of their income to treat sickness caused by unsafe water. Or, more frequently, they quietly suffer and use the money to feed their family. The bio-sand water filter is a simple, effective solution. It takes any water and through an active biological process and slow sand filtration process provides clean, safe drinking water. Each filter provides water for an entire family and costs less than $50 to construct and deliver.
